Having a web page is step one to growing a business and expanding into a global market. However, there are additional steps you need to take to better market your web page. For starters: make sure your domain is easy for an everyday person to remember or that it reflects your company, product, or service.
In addition, ask yourself “Who do I want to visit my website?” For example, if you own a painting company in Cleveland, Ohio, your target market would be people who want their homes painted in Cleveland, Ohio. Once you have your customer identified, you then need to think about what those people may type into a search engine to find that service, these are called “keywords.” Your painting company may want to put “Cleveland Painters” in the title and head tags. Also, be sure to repeat this keyword in your content.
For example:
Title tag (this tag is located on the very top-left of the browser): Cleveland Painters - Mario's Painting
Header Tag (Large text area before your content): Cleveland Painter
Content (paragraph below head tag): You may want to include several keywords people may type in a search engine that would pull up your company. Do not over do it though, it needs to sound natural. Examples of keywords you may want to include are: Cleveland painter, painters in Cleveland, Cleveland Ohio painting company, painting company in Cleveland Ohio, etc.
