After you have used your FREE trial and have decided you want to take your website live, you must register a domain name for your new site. You can search for domain names above and register one with GoDaddy.com. Domain names are usually $1.99-$8.99 for one year. DO NOT buy hosting because you have free hosting with us! After you have purchased you new domain, you can either follow the directions below or email us directly with you godaddy.com user name and password and we will set it up for you.
Steps to Registering a New Domain Name
- Search until you find a domain that you would like to register.
- Create a new godaddy.com user account or login to an existing one.
- Add domain to your shopping cart and proceed to checkout.
- Make sure the only thing in the shopping cart is the domain that you found because they do like to have other items automatically checked off that you need to uncheck.
- Fill out all required information an finish the purchase of your domain.
- You will be emailed a login and password to access your godaddy.com account.
Steps to Pointing Your New Domain To Our Servers
If you do not wish to do this part of your registration on your own, please feel free to send your godaddy.com login information to us and we will do this for you. You can then change your password after we have your site live.
- Login to your godaddy.com account.
- Click on "My Account" on the right hand side.
- Scroll down to the middle of the page and click "Manage Domains".
- Click on the domain name link that you just registered.
- To the right of "Status" you will see "Name Servers". Click on one of the blue links.
- This will open up the Name Server page and you want to delete #1 and #1 and replace the name servers they already had in there with NS1.COVAD.NET for #1 and NS2.COVAD.NET for #2. What you are doing here is pointing your domain at our servers because this is where it will be hosted.
- After you have changed the name servers, hit OK to save them. It can take up to 48 hours for this to resolve. Once this has resolved, your website will be live!
