How Website Builder Works

A step by step process on how to create a website using Sofna Website Builder....

  1. Sign up
    1. Select a package at the very top of the page.
    2. Enter your information (note: * indicates required field).
    3. Be sure the box is checked for your free 30 day trial
    4. After all selections have been made you will be taken to a confirmation page, click to confirm your name, user name, and package are correct.
  2. Sign-Up Successful
    1.  An e-mail will be sent to you with your login-in information and link.
  3. Quick Start Wizard
    1. Step One:  Choose the type of page you would like: more graphics, less content or less graphics, more content.
    2. Step Two:  Choose a Category.
    3. Step Three: Once you have chosen a category, it will take you to templates that apply to that category.  Select one.
    4. Step Four: Choose a color for your template
    5. Step Five: Enter your Main Title.  As mentioned on our marketing page, this is an excellent place to put your keyword: Max’s Painting—Painters in Maine.  Place your sub-title: An excellent place to use your keyword: “Painters in Maine”.  You may enter your e-mail address if you like.
    6. Step Six:  Choose your pages.   This is where having an organizational chart will be helpful.  Choose the names of the pages you would like to have featured on your website.
    7. Step Seven: Preview your design.  If you want to make changes, use the box at the bottom to select the step you would like to go back to. 
  4. Page Manager
    1. The page manager makes it easy to manage and edit the content within your web page.
      1. Notice features such as “Add Web Page”, “Delete Web Page”—makes it easy just in case you forgot a page or need to delete one.
      2. “Rename Pages” and “Rearrange Pages” allow you change the title of your pages or the order they are in.
      3. You may also “Mange Main Menu and Sub Menu” to control the order of the links of your pages on your main page and sub pages.
      4. You will see “Edit” next to the pages you have already named.  By clicking the pencil and paper you may edit the content on that specific page. 
        1. The edit screen is laid out similar to Microsoft Word—familiar buttons for most users.  For more advanced users you may also click the HTML box to type in HTML. 
        2. Some of edit screens have more than one edit area for the different areas of content on each screen.  You can tell which field is where by the noted text in the edit area corresponding to the text on the page.
      5. Once you have edited your page you can submit it and preview the layout of your page.  You may then choose to approve or edit some more.
      6. “Add Goodies”: (located on the far left navigation menu)here you will find hit counters, date and time stamps, maps, and more. 
      7. “Add Flash Animation”: (located on the far left navigation) Here you can add a flash introduction page to your website with your own pictures, sound, etc…  You can modify colors and text as well. 
      8. “Add Blog Page”: (located on the far left navigation menu) Add a Blog Page using BlogZone!
      9. “Change Design”, “Edit Website Titles”, and “Edit Website Footer” helps you get back to the basics.  “Change Design” enables you to edit your original design.  “Edit Titles” allows you to change or modify your Website title, subtitle, and e-mail address.  “Edit Website Footer”  places text at the bottom of your page: a good place for a copyright or last edited date. 
      10. “Add Banner” (located on the far left navigation menu) Add a customized banner to your website.  Upload a photo and enter a link so people can click the link and go to a different site, a different page, etc..
      11. “Replace Logo/Main Image” (located on the far left navigation menu) Replace the main picture or main logo of your page.  For example if you are using a stock group photo on your main page, but decide a picture of the company service is better, you can switch it out and the change will be made to all pages.
      12. “Optimize for Search Engine” (located on the far left navigation menu) This feature is extremely important when building traffic to your web page.  Enter keywords, key phrases, etc.. in the “Keywords box” and modify the description of the individual pages.  For more Marketing tips click here.
      13. “Password Protect” (located on the far left navigation menu) This feature allows you to password protect your entire website!  If you have a child and want to create a site for their birthday, or an album to keep friends and family up to date: you can e-mail your friends and family the password so only they have access to your page: no strangers do!  You may also block individual pages.
      14. “Image Editor” (located on the far left navigation menu) Here you can upload and customize images for your web page.
      15. “Account Settings” (located on the far left navigation menu) Your account settings enable you to upgrade your account, update profile information, and e-mail the administrator. 
  5. Pay Now and Register
    1. After you have set up your website and have become familiar with the various features, you may register your web page and specify a domain. 
    2. All of Sofna’s features become available to you once registration is complete.
